When we think of the Caribbean, we think of rum and bikinis, cigars and torpid nights on sultry beaches. We imagine mythic palm trees and the kind of tropical fruit that Venus eats on her eternal chaise longue, and we are stirred by the idyll longings of paradise.

Cuban Mischief delivers luscious canopy-scapes. It exposes alluring body parts. It spies masked revellers and moments with water. It introduces native inhabitants in moments of synastry and of sometimes sharp relief, to shoot tourism with an arrow of reality.

This mischief confronts paradise by asking: when smut and sex objects give way to hints of the subjective feminism and racial alienation belying a commodified exoticism, is there something spiritual there?

Holly Bynoe is an artist and Director at ARC Magazine. She has special powers for whale whispering.

Tim Georgeson is a photographer, filmmaker and curator who is known to run off with wild horses.

Caia Hagel is a writer who interviews gods and monsters, in search of the sublime.
